For several seasons, Sheldon Cooper has hated Will Wheaton, the actor behind Star Trek’s Wesley Crusher. But will Sheldon put his hatred aside for the chance of a lifetime?

TVGuide.com revealed that a mini Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion will occur on the October 13 episode of The Big Bang Theory. During the episode, Wheaton offers Cooper the chance to meet fellow Star Trek star Brent Spiner, the man behind Commander Data. While there were a number of characters show creators could have chose from, exec producer Bill Prady felt Cooper connected best to Commander Data. After all, both are socially awkward to the point of amusement and neither can express emotions in a normal way.

Prady promises an amusing episode that Star Trek fans and Big Bang fans will enjoy. Hell, even the people who aren’t attached ot either show will love it just because The Big Bang Theory is hilarious!

Will Sheldon accept Wheaton’s invitation, or will he stick to his stubbheory, orn ways.

Canadian rockers the Barenaked Ladies have filmed a music video for “The History of Everything,” their theme song for CBS’ hit sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”

Posted after the break, the video features the band sneaking onto the set of the show and performing an expanded version of the bouncy theme for the cast and crew. They even sit in Sheldon’s spot on the couch!

In an interview last fall, BNL frontman Ed Robertson shared with me the story of how show creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady approached him to pen the theme:

“They said, ‘Well, you’re the only one we’ve asked. We really want you to do this.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s great because I can give you what you’re looking for if you can tell me what you want,’” he said. “So it was a great relationship right from the start.”

The extended version of “The History of Everything” has now become a popular part of BNL’s live shows.

“We played it one night just kind of on a lark, and people went nuts. It’s one of the hits in the set now,” he said with a laugh.

CBS’s The Big Bang Theory is getting another visit from a real life scientific genius. Following guest appearances by Nobel Laureate astrophysicist George Smoot and Hayden Planetarium astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Columbia University physics professor Brian Greene will play himself in the sitcom’s April 7episode, “The Herb Garden Germination.”

“Talk about nerdy glee,” says executive producer Bill Prady. “When Chuck Lorre and I first started working on The Big Bang Theory, we had to figure out how to quickly become physicists and one of the books we picked up was The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene.” With Greene’s new book, The Hidden Reality, now out in stores, Prady and Lorre thought it would be fun to bring him on to be mocked by Sheldon (Jim Parsons).

“Sheldon and Amy [Mayim Bialik] attend a reading at a bookstore where Brian is reading from his new book and Sheldon thinks the notion of trying to teach science to the general population is nonsense.” Naturally, fireworks erupt. Says Prady, “This is what we do on our show to famous scientists.” Maybe that’s why Stephen Hawking has so far steered clear. He’s no dummy!

Gotta love those nerds on The Big Bang Theory: They were among the first actors to walk the red carpet of the Golden Globes on Sunday, which gave us plenty of time to catch up with CBS’ top-rated comedy. First up: Simon Helberg, who gave us this fun little tease on Howard: “I know that my character is going to have to make the choice between his mother and his girlfriend. That is going to come to a head. Rick Fox is coming on. He’s playing a tall, beautiful ex of Bernadette’s.”

Here’s what Kunal Nayyar had to say about his alter-ego, Raj: “Raj’s sister Priya is coming back to town in the next couple of weeks. There’s a big dance number. Last time (his sister and Leonard) just slept together and Raj was fine because she didn’t want anything long term or serious. But this time they start to date and it may come to blows. It is going to be very hard for Raj to swallow if they become an item. I hope she’s back for awhile. She’s a great actress.”

Meanwhile, Kaley Cuoco dished that Penny’s still harbors feelings for Leonard: “I just heard that Raj’s sister is coming back with hopes of rekindling something with Leonard. I think that might kick up something with Penny. I think she is going to get a little jealous. She doesn’t realize she is in love with him until people take his attention away from her. We always want what we can’t have. That’s so Penny. Jessica Walter is shooting our show this week and it is hilarious. I will say there is some hot stuff going on there. Cougar hotness this week.”

Wait a minute, Jessica Walter? Give us more, executive producers Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady!

“Jessica Walter’s playing a wealthy donor at the university and the guys have to go and woo her and slow dance with her to get money for the university,” Lorre began. “Even Sheldon.”

“And maybe Leonard is called upon to do a little more than dance,” added Prady.

“It’s a little dirty and nasty and hopefully hilarious,” continued Lorre.

Like Cuoco said, Prady confirmed that Leonard and Penny will continue down a bumpy road. “I always think they are perfect but they just met each other at the wrong time in their lives,” he said. “We sort of pay attention to what the fans are saying and go from there. They aren’t through but they aren’t exactly ready to come together either.”

In a new interview with IGN Jim Parsons discusses what it was like to work with Wil Wheaton.

So now that we’ve seen Wil Wheaton a second time on Big Bang Theory, might a third appearance be in store? Could he be a recurring nemesis for Sheldon? “I would think so. Nothing’s resolved,” Parsons remarked. “And I don’t think Sheldon ever gets to win in that situation. Not to spoil anything, but Sheldon wins a lot of the time, so it’s nice to have a good person come on and always get the best of him, because the rest of them don’t always. They try, [but] he’s too smart.”

Of course as much as Sheldon hates one Star Trek alumni in Wil Wheaton, he has absolute adoration for another, Leonard Nimoy. So might we ever see Nimoy on The Big Bang Theory? Said Parsons, “I’m sure they’re trying. What’s funny is that he was kept so far away from Stan Lee, in jail and everything, and I’ve wondered if we ever got Leonard Nimoy on… I just feel like it would be the briefest of encounters. I feel like, once again, I wouldn’t get to see Leonard Nimoy more than two seconds, in the episode. Sheldon would flip though, he would explode.”

Jim also attended the College Television Awards to present an award. If a video appears online we will post it!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Judy Greer — perhaps the most endearing actress whose name you don’t know — has been tapped to appear in a May sweeps episode of The Big Bang Theory. Oh, and did I mention that her character spends the night with Sheldon? ‘Cause she does! The big-screen second banana (in everything from The Wedding Planner to 27 Dresses) and recent Modern Family guest will play a famous physicist. (Wait, there are famous ones?) Adds executive producer Bill Prady: “Sheldon invites her to stay over at the apartment.”

Stan Lee is according to BSC Review to appear on The Big Bang Theory in the episode that will air on March 1st.

On March 1st, Stan “The Man” Lee will appear on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory according to TV Guide. A bit of a drop off from Danica McKellar and Katee Sackhoff, but a rather good fit considering the nerdular theme of the show (which our own Gerald So reviews each and every week here at BSC!)

The report indicates that Lee (playing himself) will pop up in the gang’s favorite comic book shop. I love the show for highlighting that setting because it gives the general public an idea of where all the unavoidable comics that used to be at every grocery and convenience store now hide. I’ve seen the episode slotted for the date titled as “The Einstein Approximation”, but I’m not sure if that’s still the case.
